Super Bowl 45

February 2, 2011 autumnhedrick

It is hard to believe that the 45th Super Bowl will be held this upcoming Sunday. This monumental game influences millions of people, from huge corporations, down to one single fan. Corporations pay millions for commercials that will air once during the super bowl game in hopes to gain new customers. Many months, days, and hours, are spent on these commercials all for a simple 1 to 3 minute commercial. The Super Bowl affects the surrounding community in which it is held. Hotels are booked, restaurants are crowded, and everyone flocks to see one of the major games of the year. It also affects the individual. A person may not watch football all year but uses this game as time to host a party with friends and family. The Super Bowl continues to impact more and more people every year. I wonder how many more ways we will be impacted during next year’s Super Bowl!

I agree with your post, and that the surrounding area in which the Super bowl is held will be incredibly impacted with all the people going to see the game; and with the people that just go to the city to party before, after, and during the game!

Your right, and I didn’t even think about how important the Super Bowl was to businesses where games take place. I guess I only looked from it at a standpoint for major corporations, but yes hotels and restaurants feel a HUGE impact when they have the opportunity to cater to football fans.

You make a killer point about the corporations that spend a ton of money buying the box seats for the game. Figure I heard recently for a 25 seat box with champagne reception and 25 tickets for this years game, catered, $235,000..

I like how you depicted the Super Bowl as more than just something to watch on Television, but as an economic stimulus for where it is held. People tend to forget that because tickets to the Super Bowl are considered near to impossible to get.

Hey Autumn! I read your blog and totally agree with you on the advertisement companies spending so much time and money for just 1-3 minutes on air! It’s hard to believe how much commercials influence us as consumers I guess. And you are right about the hotels and restaurants being packed with Super Bowlers I have seen it first hand.:) What are you doing for the Super Bowl? Are you in Germany?
